Not sure where, he and his baby brother Uncle Tom, were traveling around the States in a old panel truck in the late 30's, that had bunks built in the back.
They would stop for fuel and traded work for it and food, like breaking down tires and do mechanic work (Grand Father was a Ford Dealer, so they were accustom to tearing down an engine and pouring babit bearings on regular basis).
I know they worked for a Funeral Director that also used the Herce like a ambulance to pick up injured from car wrecks.They parked the Herce beside a Police Station and were alerted by Cops when they went out to a accident. One night there was bad weather and Cops asked if they wanted to come inside and rest in a vacant cell till they were eventually thrown out of jail so they could lock up a drunk.
