Another option would be to return to the 1/2 ton 750-16 wheels and tires. Then again, that might be more expensive than swapping out the side gears in the front 3rd member. I have post war 4.30 8.75 third members in my WC-12(Salad). They are not interchangeable as I changed out the side gears in the front axle to match the 1/2 ton front axle drive shafts. Oh well. I can live with that. I live in an area there are not too many radical hills. The long block 25” 236 I have moves the truck along decently well….. should have installed a 265, but the 236 was free so you know how that goes. It’s a smooth running engine so I will leave well enough alone. Only thing I might do one of these days is finally install a 1940 Chrysler aluminum head on the 236. It has been checked for cracks and been saved a tad. Good luck in whatever way you decide to go.
