I feel its a matter of use and how often you use it, for me the occaisional once or twice a year pulling something on my trailer, i have found the 13k badland winch to be quite suitable and inexpensive. I doing a lot of hard pulls or more often, I stick with the pto driven winches on my trucks, I have winched out dozens of vehicles no matter what brand electric winch equipped once the batteries are dead, fried wiring, water logged or just plain blown apart in pieces, the pto winches have never let me down, I have worn out two sets of gears in my MU2 on the ffpw in the45 years I have owned it!
