It is kind of like the age old debate about detergent oil verses non-detergent. Do you want your oil to clean and carry away contaminants from the effected surfaces? Or do you want the contaminants to remain where they are and not be carried to possibly more sensitive areas?

Do you want moisture to be dissipated and diluted throughout the entire brake fluid contained within the braking system? Or do you want it to not be absorbed by the brake fluid and instead lie in pools where it will develop rust on the effected surfaces?

I choose to use detergent oil to avoid sludge build up. But that is just me. I choose to use Dot4 for its hesitance to heat and its ability to absorb moisture and not let it pool as much in places where I do not want rust. But that is just me too.

Bottom line. I have come to believe that an engine needs its oil changed on a regular schedule regardless of where it has been run much or not, and regardless of the type of oil used. Flush out the moisture and other contaminants.

I also have come to believe that brake systems need to be flushed once a year regardless of the kind of brake fluid used. Flush out the absorbed moisture as will as the pooled (non-absorbed) moisture.
