Several years ago I installed a hydro boost unit on my Ford F350 with a Dana 60 front end. I also installed a disc brake conversion from a place called Blackbird Automotive in Spokane.
Together those two items have been the greatest improvement on that truck. The factory brakes, even with a vacuum booster were horrible. Now the stopping power is truly impressive.
I don't have any intentions of entering into another project, but if I did, I would seriously look into somehow making this work.
The units are readily available with or without a master cylinder, and a lot of planning would be necessary, but if the sheetmetal were all off of the truck it seems like it could be done. Maybe someone who is in that stage will decide to look into it.
