Thank you all. It's good to know the ignition switch will take the amperage. I agree that the best solution is probably to put in a relay for the headlights and a fuse block for all electrical components (probably will do in the future).
And an extra thank-you to Vaughn for the turn signal schematic. That looks to be the turn signal switch that I recently bought. The problem was that it didn’t come with a schematic. Now I have something to start with when ohming out the leads.
