I have all my lights, heater, everything wired through the ignition switch acc. It does warm the switch some, when running the heater, but with fog out here in CA, I don't have to worry about battery drain, everything is off when the ignition is off. I've had it this way for many years with no problems. If you have the headlights adjusted, you have to use a jump wire.
