They did in 68, buildings were in water. The big Kings River splits at Stratford, canal along 41 and canal going to Corcoran. The image at the link shows how high most rivers were going into the lake for several months, Tule, Kaweah, Kings Rivers. Water from the Kings was diverted to the Fresno Slough, the lake was almost at it's original size.
