Don't use the Muncie backlash specs, not correct for the spur gear PTO idler. Use .003 to .008. If you set to .003 backlash, you can apply a thing coat of silicone and you should be ok but re-check. You have to lock the cluster gear to check backlash, PIF tip section has procedures.
