like Bruce said when you hear the rattle grab your transfer case levers to see if it stops mine made that rattle and I had to get new bushings at Granger and put them in to stop it And if it is too warn for bushings get John S to rebuild them he did one of mine I sent it in and the turn around time was not bad. Just something to check first before getting too involved I also use straight 140 wt in transmission transfer case and differentials and it has worked good for years
