Yeah, I guess I am thinking that it will be stronger as all one piece. With non-structural sections, I have little hesitation cutting out only the rusted out sections and welding to the remainder, but for whatever reason, I am hesitant to do the same with structural items. I don't have any real knowledge on the subject. It is just my own hesitancy.
