Many original fuel tanks are dented or are rusty with sediment just waiting to clog the fuel line. If you do not have a rear PTO setup, you can have a new tank built to the same depth and length as the original but twice as wide (frame rail to frame rail). This will double your capacity and let you have the single filler in the stock location.

Marine catalogues such as West Marine have fuel tanks in all capacities and dimensions that you can use as an auxiliary tank. They also have electric fuel gauges and sending units that might work. Always check your marine, recreational vehicle, and agricultural suppliers when you are trying to solve a truck problem.
