Belive you fellows are talking different trucks. A D100 1959 vintage will fit a Poly 315 which is a pretty wide V8 engine. It is wider than the 318LA engine. I would think a slant 6 would have no problem. So far as tranny / bellhousing match up I don't think there was a problem. This can be confirmed by Paul who has a 1970 PW (export) with a slant 6 and a NP420 tranny or Mopar Norm.
