Shucks, I once floored my 64 WM300 w/251 and got the speedo to the 80mph mark on the interstate then let off just to see if it would do it. Of course it had no hood or bed or winch or governor.Calculations showed the engine rpms to have been approx. 4300-4500rpms for the brief seconds it was running 80mph. Of course it wasn't good for it, but these engines will turn that many rpms but most nay-sayers forget they are most likely running a governor and I wasn't.
