Also, I need thoughts on how much metal to replace. I am currently replacing any portions of the floorpan that has rust holes. But what about the badly pitted areas? The sheet metal is so thick that there is very bad pitting, but the pitted metal seems solid. In my mind I have been poo-pooing the atrocious factory welds, and at the same time admiring the sheet metal thickess. There are really two questions here, is the metal as sound as I think, and what do I do if I want a nice smooth surface to paint and look pretty?
