I can't see the link. There are two NP420s that fit the PW. When I say PW I am restricting it to the WDX and later PWs of that model. The first is the one that was installed in the PW from 1956 on. It will fit any PW later than 1956 and 1956 models that came after the switch. The second is the M37 NP420 which has a different bellhousing bolt pattern. This bolt pattern will fit the PWs with the non-synchro "before" and "after" transmission. I have the M37 NP420 transmission in my 51 PW.

So, it's not just if it is a NP420 but which one. There are other NP420s out there that were in civilian trucks, but if I am correct these have a longer input shaft that will not fit the PW.

A good source of information is Dave Cirilo (DC) who advertises on this site. He also has a web site which has transmission identification information.

Good luck finding a rear PTO setup. If you do, bring lots of money.
