Paul, I just jacked up the front of my WC53. There is absolutely no way that I can use the wheels to steer left or right. I grab the front and rear of the tire and try move it left or right. I put everything I had into it. There is absolutely no movement with the exception of a 1/4 inch of flex which is from some wear in the linkage. The tires were in the centered position when I tried this. Hope this helps. And no, the steering gear and linkage are not over tightened. It has 10,000 miles since it was rebuilt and adjusted. I have about 1 1/2 inches of play in the steering when the steering wheel and wheels are centered. I have tapered bearings in the knuckles rather than the bronze cones which have less resistance to turning.
