I wish it was only $250 to cover mine. But I live in a high price area. Mice got into mine. So a couple of years ago, I had to replace all padding and etc plus the seat cover in the seat base. I actually took the base apart and spent hours going after rust from the pee. Then I put a sheet of ABS plastic in between the two parts of the base to replace the smelly cardboard. You need to cut welds and then reweld the base to do this. I made vents in ABS that mice could not get through. A year later they got into the seat back. Caught it earlier and minimal damage. I still had to replace all the padding and cover.
This is after I had the seats redone 10 years prior and things were in great shape. The base originally had a weak spring or two in the driver's position. No replacements available. They were not that bad so the swapped those springs into the center of the seat where nobody sits. Then they added more wires to stabilize the springs. They replaced the padding, and the seat base is better than new. The place I had the mouse pee fixed, still had the records for the first rebuild so they were able to order the exact cover material. It was a perfect color match to the first cover material. I could not see any dye lot differences.
