Thanks Chris , and all who responded . You’ve just confirmed what I thought , given the low geared ratio of the steering box , making it “self locking “, as you term it Chris . I learned to drive , on our home farm Fergusson 24 ,wheel tractor , and that had the opposite ratio to my truck . You learned to steer it with your thumbs wrapped over the outside of the steering wheel , otherwise , the first rock or bump , the front wheels encountered , would definitely break your thumbs .
I’m thankful for all your comments , and I’ll show this to the inspectors . I know nobody here , has the knowledge and experience , that you guys have , on things Dodge !
