No, check temp when running. Mine runs at 160 and on a warm day if it's off 15 min., it will drop 10 degrees. You might try a dial thermometer in the coolant at the cap to see what temp the coolant is as it's moving.
- Check for any bubbles moving in the coolant indicating a head gasket leak
- Radiator could be getting plugged with scale/rust.
- Do you have an original temp sending unit in the block or after market? If it's not a long reach, it will give fault readings on temp.
- Make sure the fan belt is adjusted correctly.
