That looks a lot like the trans on my '49 when I opened it up nearly 20 years ago. I thought the leading edge of the teeth were all worn out because they were so rounded off, so I ordered new gears (more readily available at the time), and the new ones were also substantially rounded off. I realized then that they were made that way to ease the shifting without synchros.
