Well that is what I always thought. Jumps out when it needs to engage, then pulls back at rest. I can push this drive back in but it springs right back out again, and I wonder if that is why the teeth are all messed up is because it has been grinding on the flywheel until clearance was achieved. None of this solves my 'why it wouldn't start' problem I had but is good confirmation that it is at least the correct unit. Starter did not work, had to tow truck, take starter off, use jumper cables on it, works fine. Go figure. That is/was my original dilemma, the no start problem, I just wondered if it was correct after I got it off. So, thanks all for the confirmation.
