They only make enough volts to get the spark started. Probably about 8-12,000v.

A larger spark plug gap will need the higher volts. Some vehicles used .100". That big spark hit more gas molecules, good idea for lean "clean" engines where the gas molecules are farther apart. Not needed on out lot-of-fuel flatties.

And condensers need to match the coil. A bad match will cause the points to burn prematurely.

IF there is any difference, I would still stick with a stock coil.
