Disassembly is fun and rewarding- I take tons of pics and even copy them from the internet. Assembly is fun as well, and gets my heart pounding as problems ALWAYS arise that weren't there for the disassembly.
For me, the tedious tasks are cleaning! First remove major manure/dirt/grease/mud with paint scraper. Part then goes in kerosene bath to remove remainder. Part then blasted or cup brushed to remove paint. Inspect for issues. Part then hand-washed with dishwashing soap to remove oil, grease, fingerprints. Part then painted with good ol' Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer.
