I sold a 1929 Packard a few years back - the guy has since picked up a frame and other bits - he plans on restoring the frame then pulling an axle rebuilding it an then placing it on the new frame , then the rear, them the motor and on from there. The guy is in his mid 80s and has done several cars this way.
That is one way to keep track of parts - I still have that battery tray for you, although I am not sure were it got to in the last year:)
