Buying a 75 year old truck that needs to be assembled is a very wise decision. Look at all of the fun you are having and all of the education you are gaining, as well as all of the different interactions with different owners and their perspectives.
I hope what I say next will not be taken wrong. I am by no means attempting to discourage your use of the truck to transport materials to build your house, but having 50 years of experience building houses, I found having the materials delivered to the jobsite to be far more cost-effective and efficient than hauling in a pickup.
Of course, if you are speaking of occasional forgotten or missed items that require a trip to the lumber supplier, that's different. In any case be prepared to spend some time with those who want to ask you about the truck or take pictures of it. :)
