I'm a carpenter. I'm not a mechanic, and I'm not a welder.
I have learned how to do some mechanical work and I have learned how to weld. I learned gas welding before I learned MIG welding.
I would not weld something that might put someone's life in danger, such as a trailer hitch or similar.
I will be interested in reading the answers from men who are far more qualified to answer.
