if its overheating at higher rpms not at idle, check and see if the lower radiator hose is a 'molded curve' type, if so, squeeze it and you should not be able to collapse it, if you can then the internal spring designed to keep it formed has failed and it is collapsing under high rpms by suction from the water pump thus causing restricted flow and overheating! time to replace the hose. if the thermostat is stuck open you will get too much flow thus the coolant will heat up and cause overheating, if the stat is stuck closed, the upper adiator hose will generally rupture.
