It was a good show. Just as many, or more, show trucks as usual. Most of the "regulars" who bring the large antique trucks were there. A little lighter though on the smaller antique trucks like ours. I think that is because most of us are more local. Fuel prices probably scared some of them away. More vendors this year. I believe that was because their sales have fallen way off and more of them make were making an appearance in hopes of boosting sales.

Talked to a guy next to me who had a 1909 Best. Basically just a wagon with an engine on it. Pretty cool to see some of the beginnings of the trucking movement.

He is a higher-up in a trucking company. They have 500 trucks and 600 drivers. I asked him for his insight on how the media is reporting that price increases are due to the current lack of truck drivers. He said they are not having any problems getting and/or keeping truck drivers. That supports our experience living close to two major interstate highways. There appears to be more trucks on the highways now than there has ever been.

I also talked to Rodney who is VP of the Truckomat truck washes. (After one displays at the Jamboree for 20 or so years, you naturally become friends with some of the folks in charge.) He gave some insight on he has seen sales of chrome accessories and such dropping off, but he sees truckers actually being hit harder by gasoline prices than diesel prices - just like the rest of us. Once they get home, they do not have a company paying for the fuel anymore, or have the opportunity to pass gasoline prices onto their customers if they are an owner/driver.

I loose confidence in the media more and more every day.

There were a lot of people taking pictures, video, and just stopping to ask questions and visit. Power-Wagons still get the attention!

Thanks for the shout out!

Junior
