Did you take the old fuel line off of the truck? I find it easier and more cost effective to remove the old lines and use them as patterns to create new lines from a bulk roll of the correct tubing. Even at that, your new lines would most likely need to be tweaked. Who knows how many hands touched the old ones over the years.

My double flare tool of choice is the one from NAPA (their own brand). I also agree with another comment below. How you use it is just as important than the quality of the tool. Double flaring takes practice and one has to develop a "feel".

One last thought. Are you sure your front line is not positioned to far rearward?
