My question exactly, ... ,a couple months ago on this very forum. I got two good answers, one was the width in inches, (if you search in Forum 575, you can find it), and one was that a Dodge Dakota bench seat worked. I never found the Dakota bench seat and in the process discovered that there is also a pedestal for the seat, and it was missing from my project. It appears that no matter what bench seat you choose, you will need the pedestal. I have no idea whether the seat and pedestal from a 40's or 50's closed-cab truck would work. If this answer seems unhelpful or frustrating, you now know exactly how I felt.
