Best thing before primer or any paint is wax & grease remover. It’s sold at any autobody supply. It’s way less strong than lacquer thinner. Often lacquer thinner will bite into the paint you’re washing & can leave lint etc. Just use wax & grease remover…it works excellent & that’s what it’s for.
