Lead is kind of greasy, it will act as a lube. And the pipe walls will prevent such fast feed that it chokes the teeth. Saw away.
Metallic lead is pretty safe, it's vapors and compounds that are harmful- modtly from occupational exposure. Dust mask is good idea. Adults do clear lead via kidneys, hair, and fingernails before it causes problems. kids are more susceptible.
