This is a strange problem. The stub shafts on this Dana 60 axle are 19 spline. It turns out there is nothing wrong with the shafts except that one shaft is 50 thousandths smaller than the other one and the bronze bushing that the smaller one passes through is beat and cracked from at least 25-30 years of use since I have owned the truck. I know a machinist who can make new bushings, so I guess that's how we'll go. But it's still a mystery as to why one is smaller than the other.
