The automotive background and knowledge here is a great resource--so here goes:
My grandson has had an old BMW small sedan (I know, I know--I tried to tell his mother)
He's back into a Dodge now.
The problem, before we sell it, is strange looking tire wear. The four tires had about half wear left when we discovered that the inside quarter of the tread on the front and rear driver's side tires had sharply worn down and through to the ragged steel belts. Only a thin film was holding air long enough to leak out in the driveway.
He says he has not made any high speed sliding turns or pavement run-offs.
Question: What could possibly have eaten the insides of both the front and rear treads of these half used tires--only on the driver side ?
