When I bought my truck it did not run and I couldn't find the marking. I assumed it was a 5.83. In the 3 years before I got it running, I found 4.89 pumpkins on Ebay. I decided to take it for a drive before installing the 4.89s just to make sure there wasn't some other problem with the differentials. Lo and behold, one of my first drives I had it up to 60-65 mph and the engine didn't sound too high of RPMs. I actually had 4.89s. I thought when you got older, you got smarter. Measure twice cut once!
