Last summer I had a catastrophic spring failure on my single axle Jayco trailer - small 20 foot one. It was derivative of an initial wheel bearing failure. Briefly, after I had the bearings packed , one failed in North Platte, NB and I was able to limp to a tire dealer who replaced the axle and bearing parts. However because he was in a rush, he did not make sure it was exactly centered and I discovered on the road in Colorado that the leaf springs were being forced sideways causing major strain. By the time we made it back to Oklahoma one of the leaves failed so I drove very slow back to Virginia. We almost made it home but finally the remaining leaves gave out resulting in the right side tire to jam up against the wheel well. Fortunately it was only a 90 mile tow to home. The dealer who packed the bearings assumed full responsibility paying for everything.
