The lower door reinforcement piece on the PW and the WC trucks seem to be slightly different. The PW piece (on my 51) is definitely a stamped factory piece. Joe has a picture of it in his photo albums. My carryall WC53 is almost identical but it is definitely hand made. I will ask Joe to post a picture of the carryall door. The carryall one, at the upper hinge pocket deflection, has been cut then welded back together with an offset. You can also see saw marks (over cuts) on the carryall one. Both doors reinforcements are the same. I don’t know if the military did a retrofit as they found that the doors were failing at that point. I also don’t know when the PW started getting them from the factory.
I just learned this difference today when I looked at both of my trucks for Alan. He sent me a picture of a very nice reinforcement that he made.
