Ok, the early M37 NP88950 and the 57 FFPW transmission use the same retaining nut CC-1265637 (1-3/4-16NF). The later NP420 uses the CC-1669887 nut. I only see one retaining nut on the VPW site, page 48, that is for the early syncro transmission. Here are specs to compare:
Drive Point Depth 0.118 inches minimum and 0.132 inches maximum
Nut Style Round
Nut Diameter 2.368 inches minimum and 2.382 inches maximum
Nut Thickness 0.274 inches minimum and 0.288 inches maximum
Drive Point Width 0.243 inches minimum and 0.257 inches maximum
