I have a Rivian R1T on order (expected delivery sometime this Jul-Sep). I didn't order it for the "zero emissions" or "green factor". I simply want to try something different. I'm well aware they aren't the solution to anything. I'm not taking it cross country or pulling a loaded trailer very far. The battery capacity isn't the greatest and there are sure to be bugs to work out. I've never owned a new truck (I'm 48 y.o.) and am treating myself to something I want (not need) before I suddenly fall over dead one day.
Rivian is made 40 miles South of me in Normal IL and I don't mind supporting local jobs/labor (though they aren't Union). The final price is comparable to most major auto brands after Federal and State tax rebates. The truck is VERY capable on/off road and has enough power to pin you back in the seat (and that aint no joke).
The Power Wagon will always have a spot in the garage.
