Obviously the single wire sender is grounded through the gas tank I would think you could take the single wire and connect it to the 48 gauge. Then take the other lead from the 48 gauge and ground it. I would have to look at a wire diagram to determine which wire from the gauge would go where. The only question would be do the 48 and 58 senders have the same ohm range.
