I here you. I use the dealer for oil changes in my 2013 f350 just because it’s easier than getting rid of the oil and etc. The dealer cost is not much more than what it costs me to do it. The dealer, in 16 years, has never tried to snow me until this last spring.
The front end has always been hard on tires. I had it aligned when new with a load in it as that is how it is driven. Well I was getting new tires after a front tire had separated and the rears had 92K on them. I decided on an alignment at that time. The dealer said I needed a bunch of steering parts replaced and that was $2500 in parts. The same identical parts I could buy for $800. They also said it drove horribly, which it did not. I then took it to Les Schwab to align it. When I got it back, he said he was surprised how well it drove. The alignment was way out which caused the right tire to wear badly while the left was slightly feathered. He said he had never seen an alignment done so badly. No new parts were used so I asked what kind of shape the front end was in. He stated there is very slight wear on some links but nothing even close to needing replacement. He thought I could go another 50K before replacing parts. I had a long talk with my dealer about then trying to fleece me.
