I am all for keeping things original, if possible. For some reason, and I can't honestly remember what it was, I put a Carter electric fuel pump on my '66 F350 with a 428. This was at least 25 or 30 years ago. I just recently replace that pump with another one as close to the first one as I could find. They definitely work better near the tank than near the engine.
