Solar has its place. Not for my house as I have a solid wall of 150’ trees shading my house. They really keep the house cool in the summer. No air conditioning required. Am I going to cut down the trees, heck no. I had a shake roof but it was so slippery when wet. I had to replace it. The shakes were fine, but the galvanized valleys rusted out and I was getting water into the house. I also upgraded the attic insulation from 4” to a minimum of 16” which made a big difference.
I did put solar panels on my truck camper last month. I am surprised that they are actually charging the batteries even with all the trees. Not much charging but it’s charging.
