Hi Bruce, yes, I put a 5600 in my old red First Gen & it basically bolted right in with exception of the engine adapter & clutch/starter because it had a Getrag. For whatever reason the manual first gen trucks got 29 spline 205’s. I think the autos got 23 spline. I know they make a 23-29 spline sleeve…maybe more but I was hoping to find a nice old stock 205 that has the proper cast adapter. I think it was cast wasn’t it?
