However, I have been into Jeeps for almost as long as I have been into Power-Wagons. What I have learned is that the T4/T5 is considered "okay" in a stock Jeep with stock engine and tires. However they are not regarded as being very good when adding the extra torque and stress of larger tires and/or a larger engine. I think with the tire size and weight of a Power-Wagon, one would be asking for trouble.

When I was really into Jeeps in the early '80s it was popular to swap out T4 and T5 transmissions for the stronger Tremec T176 or T177 transmission, which also came factory installed in Jeeps. The best choice was the Borg-Warner T98, and this was still for the lightweight Jeep but upgraded with V-8 engine and larger tires.

My opinion, the T5 would probably be okay for a Power-Wagon that has the stock engine, stock tires, will never carry any weight, and will only be driven down hills - including being loaded "down" onto a trailer.

Just my 2 wheat pennies worth.
