'68 W300 clutch

My '68 W300 has a hydraulic clutch. I pressed the pedal to the floor to start it and the pedal wouldn't come back up. I pulled it up by hand and now it won't go back down. The clutch itself must be engaged because I can move the transmission through the gears while the engine is running.
Any suggestions as to how to disengage the clutch?
