No surprise at all. I live just south of this. We had a Pineapple Express which is an atmospheric river that can feed warm moist clouds full of water from just north of Hawaii. Thus the name. These are major rain events as these clouds hit our mountains and dump their water. Additionally, the warm air melts a lot of snow in the mountains which adds water to the rivers. For example, the area where I pheasant hunt, which is 15 minutes away, is under 6 to 8’ of water and is ready to top the road next to it. In fact, the entire valley is flooded with many roads closed. This last Pineapple Express seemed to have been centered just north of us into the area of the pictures, but we still got a lot of rain.

This is the second Pineapple Express this month along with a couple of other rain storms. The real worry right now is land slides and trees uprooting from the soil being so water logged.
