Actually, I need to correct my last statement. It does have a delivery date stamped on the plate. 1942. Others say that they have a month and year on theirs. Mine only has the year.

I really can’t quite figure out what the guy was doing in the link. Using my trucks serial number which is 81621xxx his data says it’s a 1943 truck. My delivery date is 1942.

Here is a link with information on frame serial number with hood number and some build dates. Scroll down until you see the list of 1300. Look for your frame serial number. You may find a WC53 registered that is close to yours. I do not have a build card yet. But based on the above link my truck was most likely built in August 1942 asked on other WC53s with close serial numbers. Aut42 ties with the delivery date stamped on the tag on my truck.

I did find the truck with the hood number 1 higher than mine. I talked to the owner in Nebraska. There is not a direct correlation between hood number and serial number. They didn’t necessarily come off the asset line in serial number order. Once off the line they were parked in rows in a large lot. Then, as I understand, they had people go through the lots and put the hood numbers on. These people did not necessarily go in the same order as they were parked. So there is no direct correlation between numbers.
