I think I just solved that mirror issue with the spare by adding a round convex to a 4pt mount long mirror. The mirrors came w the truck and they seem period correct. I just added the correct spare and there is enough extra view now to see the edge of the 8' wide garage door frame. Of course, saying that I'll probably hit it next time I venture out. If you need a pic I can send one.
